There are some basic questions that many people have when visiting a church. If you have any others than the ones addresses here, feel free to email us and ask.
What to Wear
There is no dress code at Riverside. You will find both ends of the spectrum, fro
m suits, dresses, khakis, polos, jeans, shorts, and t-shirts. Scripture teaches that we should dress modestly [1 Timothy 2:9,10] and that our beauty should come from within rather than from the outside [1 Peter 3:3,4], for “man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” [1 Samuel 16:7 NIV]. There is no need to wear your Sunday best. God is not impressed by our outward appearance. Just come dressed as your typical self . Nobody will be judging.
Communion & Offering
At Riverside, we offer Communion and collect an Offering every week. Communion (or observing the Lord’s Supper) is how Jesus asked to be remembered at his last supper with his disciples. We share the bread and the cup together every week. It is our policy to have an open communion; anyone can participate who wants.
We also give every week as a regular part of our worship. You will not even notice how we go about giving during the service because we have an offering box near the door. We don’t try to pressure anyone by passing offering plates. We give, not out of compulsion, but because it celebrates God’s generous nature. For our guests, the service is our gift to you.
How to Get Here
The Riverside Christian Church typically gathers at the Riverside Family Center just north of Antwerp on State Route 49 for their
weekly worship gathering at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. The Riverside Family Center is immediately on the left after the Maumee River bridge. You will need to turn west on River Road (CR 192). Our driveway is the first drive on the right. Come change with us!
Our Convictions and Beliefs
Our Convictions
- We believe in a minimal set o
f essentials in order to foster unity and freedom in Jesus. - We believe the message of Jesus is best exhibited when we love; words are necessary but can be very empty without action in love.
- We believe in praying that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven and desire to follow that prayer by doing our best to change our surroundings to his will.
- We believe Jesus has one Church that crosses all man-made divides.
- We rest firmly in grace, understanding that Jesus’ love for us is not earned by anything we have ever done or will ever do.
- We believe in modeling the life of Jesus and sharing with others the hope he has for their lives.
- We believe that all lives are better lived when they are focused on doing God’s will.
- We believe that we have a direct line with God with no need for anyone to stand between us and God, although we will gladly pray and help others.
- We believe that God honors seekers and Jesus’ teaching that if we seek, we will find.
Our Beliefs
- Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who showed us how to live life to the fullest, died for our sins, and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15: 1-8; John 3:16; John 10:10)
- The Bible is the inspired word of God – a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:105)
- Every person has worth as a creation of God, but each have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
- Forgiveness of sins and the promise of a meaningful and eternal life are available as a free gift of grace to those who believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)
- Those surrendering their heart to Jesus should repent of their sin, confess their faith, be baptized into Him, and live a life loving God and loving people. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; Matthew 22:37-39)
- The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to evangelize the lost and equip the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
